The fame and power of Ollivander wands suggests he may be correct in this.

So a vegan student /could/ get themselves a wand that's animal-friendly, but at the cost of never being quite as good at magic as their peers.

Source: http://pottermorespoilers.tumblr.com/post/8985212796/ollivanders-backstoryDave the PTAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01944718651655523475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4272012254256562378.post-35686889140805235142013-08-02T12:50:12.173-04:002013-08-02T12:50:12.173-04:00Interesting point. The fact that wands are implied to have some say in choosing their owners does suggest that they have some level of sentience, though Ollivander never elaborates on that, and there's never any other implication that a wand's "personality" is anything more than the impression a user leaves upon their tools But the possible sapience of wands certainly does have implications for vegans.Dave the PTAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01944718651655523475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4272012254256562378.post-78705008047033382772013-07-29T19:34:20.514-04:002013-07-29T19:34:20.514-04:00the elder wand was never described as having an an...the elder wand was never described as having an animal byproduct core was it? i looked it up on a harry potter wiki and it said that the tale of the three brothers described it as having a thestral tail. though given that the wands themselves are described as having a level of sentience i don't think that using one would be an acceptable practice anyway.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
